Host families and Exchange students

Host parents are very nice to exchange student. All the basic necessities are given to him like own home resides from personal hygiene stuffs. Host parents provide the exchange students traditional foods, and take them to different favorite restaurants around the area. I remember my family's favorite restaurant, which we go every month. That restaurant provides very good fish, cheese, and  beef burgers with cheaper deals. yummy, I miss them.

Host families are very keen to know a lot more about the exchange student as much you are keen to know about them. It is actually pretty fun when you are having discussion and sharing the culture on dinner table. Sharing random thing about culture and way of life style was always a main topic on our dinner table. And this was very normal. On each occasion when the host family show the traditional way of celebrating the custom, exchange students get amused. And families show their spirit by traditional food and attending the party or some thing like this.

Host families are so much wanting  to introduce you to their friends and family friends. They take you to their community friends and introduce you. Some times you are being called in front of all church members of your host family to introduce your self. This is very nice of your family.

Host family take you to trips mostly in their own state. And this is your privilege  not your right. Remember this. You cant demand from them but you can ask, surely they will listen to you. My family ask a wish and I said Niagara Fall. And they took me there. I was happy with that. Besides this there are trips organized by your Placement organization. Which are cheap and you could visit a number of places.

Christmas is one of the biggest celebrating festival in America. So your family will stand an artificial tree and put lights on it and a lots of other small souvenir on it. My family amused me by having such antiques which were older than me. And they keep telling me about them when they come up, which was very wonderful.

If you see Host families do so much for you, it is amazing how they let a stranger to live in their house for year. How can any body without even knowing him before ever keep any body for an year? Families pass so much time with you, so you need to think of some thing in return too.

The best fun way to return their favor is by making them getting helped from you in which you can. This is also a great way to have good and unique experience. I did many chores at my Host family house. I enjoyed gardening, cooking, vacuum cleaning and dish washing. All these were very new to me as the methods were totally different.

So, these are some of the ways you could enjoy with your host families and make your year remarkable. 

Be an International Exchange student

Experiences can be gathered by different means which could be for different reasons, but if you wish to have a life experience and life time memory, then try to an exchange student in your youth age. Thousands of kids every year become exchange student all over the world. Many students are gone to America and have learned quite a number of life time experiences. These experiences which they have got from their exchange programs have change their life. Many of them have become broad/open minded, understandable and good leaders of their community and even outside of the community. This is an opportunity for every student to avail, to change their life time experience.

I am one of the students whose life was changed after being an exchange student from Pakistan. Self-trust, confidence, self management etc and many more qualities of this kind is prevailing in my body. And it makes me different to feel then the rest of others' who didn't get such opportunity.

I was selected to be an exchange student by an US state govt. donated exchange program, known as YES(Youth exchange and study) Program. A most popular exchange in Muslim countries of the world. This program dont see that the student is poor or rich, but if he is capable of having a good experience.

The day you are selected to be an exchange student, that day starts to be a turning day of your life and that year is the revolutionary year for you. Because you are going to have such an experience that you never dreamed of before.

The YES program put you in the houses of Volunteer host families, who also wish to have as much good and unique experience as you do. Those families treat you with the best they can like their own kids or may be more than that because you are a guest for them.

Sharing your culture and traditions makes them so interested in you that they spend a lot of their time with you, which they don't with other people usually.

The host families observes always the whole time you are with them, how you react to things and how you see others. They observe and compare the psychological difference b/t two different places of the world.
